Mt Hotham is home to a stunning network of alpine tracks and trails, offering access to some of Australia’s most breathtaking views, rare native flora, and the rich heritage of the High Country.
The walking season runs from early December through to Easter each year. This period offers the best trail conditions and ideal weather for enjoying the outdoors - whether you're after a scenic stroll or a multi-day hike.

One of Victoria’s iconic walks, the 37km Alpine Crossing is a 3 day/2 night trek through the Alpine National Park. The route links the resort villages of Falls Creek and Mt Hotham.

4 Peaks is a 4 day walking and running event and each day participants tackle a new peak with distances varying from 10.6km to 15km.
16 January 2027
B2H is a classic race with a rich history embedded in Australian trail running folklore. Starting at Mountain Creek Campground, runners climb Victoria’s highest mountain, Mt Bogong, descend T-Spur to Big River before the next big climb up Duane’s Spur to reach the Bogong High Plains. Passing through the main aid station at Langford Gap, runners continue across the high plains before dropping to the Cobungra River and climbing Swindler’s Spur on the way to the finish at Mt Hotham summit.

Set across three of the Victorian high country’s most famous climbs, you’ll tackle the ascents of Tawonga Gap, Mount Hotham and finally, ‘The Beast’ that is the back of Falls Creek.

Experience the thrill of running to the summit of Mt Feathertop, Victoria’s second highest peak, across the Razorback.
10- 14 March 2027
Embark on a multi-day hiking adventure through the breathtaking Alpine National Park. Starting and ending in Mt Hotham, Victoria, you will experience epic trails, historic huts, old mines and stunning views, while we take care of food, route, water, air stations and epic, festival like camp grounds. Get ready for the Adventure of A Lifetime.
The 100 mile (160 km) course takes in six major climbs with 7,400 m of ascent and descent including Mt Feathertop, Mt Hotham, Mt McKay, Spion Kopje, Mt Nelse and Victoria’s highest mountain: Mt Bogong.
