TRAVEL UPDATES

This page will provide updates from Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board regarding the 2021/22 green season at Hotham. Updated 25 October 2021.

Restrictions being eased from 6:00pm Friday 29 October

From 6pm Friday 29 October, Victoria's restrictions are easing and we're looking forward to welcoiming Melbourne visitors back to Mt Hotham.

We know you're keen to be here and support the resort, so we encourage you to understand the restrictions and help our businesses to serve you.

In summary:

All retail has to operate with a density quotient (rather than cap) of one person per 4sqm.

For hospitality:

  • there is only seated service indoors with a density quotient (rather than cap) of one person per 4sqm.
  • Outdoors, a density quotient of 1 person per 2sqm applies up to a cap of 500 people.

Customers who are fully vaccinated can enter cafes, bars and restaurants, and people who are not fully vaccinated can order takeaway.

Accommodation is open in alignment with private gathering requirements (up to 10 people including dependents) and full vaccination is strongly recommended.

Parks and playground are open so the kids can use our playground and pump track in the Davenport precinct.

Resort Clean-up weekend

Currently property owners can come to the resort for emergency maintenance as per the guidance on the Victorian Government website here but require permission from the RMB. If you have to come up under these conditions, please contact us at property@mthotham.com.au for further information before travelling to the resort.

We’re holding our hard waste collection date on 29 November 2021, immediately after our inaugural Resort Clean-up Weekend on 27-28 November 2021. This is a great opportunity to join with the RMB and other community members to make sure Mt Hotham is in tip-top condition for our summer guests.

Our infrastructure crews are busy!

When you do come up you will notice lots of construction underway, including works at the Loch carpark to prepare for the Alpine Gateway. Down at the other end of the resort we're doing trench works in preparation for the new Whisky Flat Recreation Facility.

It's exciting to see this work progressing for the resort's redevelopment and transformation program, providing facilities that will greatly enhance the visitor experience.

Roadworks on the Great Alpine Road

Regional Roads Victoria are currently working on two sites on the Great Alpine Road (GAR) between Harrietville and Hotham Heights, to prevent landslips.

For everyone’s safety, traffic will be reduced to one lane at each site and concrete barriers will be in place to protect workers. Traffic lights and signage will direct road users through each site.

Please plan for short delays of up to 5-10 minutes at each location until the end of the year. For more information, visit https://regionalroads.vic.gov.au/map/hume/landslip-prevention-program
