Woorara Wanik Waring - Mountain Pathway to the Sea

Aboriginal Art Show

22 March - 29 April, 2019

Mt Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board (MHARMB) is proud to be supporting 'Woorara Wanik Waring - Mountain Pathway to the Sea', an Aboriginal Art Show being held by the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC).

GLaWAC represents all Gunaikurnai people in native title, cultural heritage, land, water and natural resource management and related employment aspirations and issues.

In 2013, GLaWAC and MHARMB agreed an Indigenous Land Use Agreement covering the Mt Hotham area, and in the years since we have welcomed the increased participation of the Gunaikurnai people in our activities. In return, the Gunaikurnai are teaching us about the significance of Mt Hotham to their people.

MHARMB is sponsoring the category of 'The True Spirit of Alpine Australia' at the Woorara Wanik Waring art show, with a prize of $2,500 for the winning entry in the category.

On Wednesday 13 February, Aboriginal elders, artists and GLaWAC staff travelled up to Mt Hotham for an art inspiration excursion to the resort, hosted by CEO Jon Hutchins. We look forward to seeing the art that results from this tour!

Opening night for the show is 6pm, Friday 22 March, and the public is welcome to attend this free event.

Venue: GLaWAC, 27 Scriveners Road, Kalimna West.

The art show is open until 29 April, 2019.

For opening times and more information, call GLaWAC on 03 5152 5100.
