Head of Visitor Experience
Full time role
Reporting directly to the Resort General Manager, the Head of Visitor Experience will lead the resort’s customer focused team while simultaneously developing and overseeing strategic plans in marketing, communications, and events.
The resort has 2 distinct seasons white (winter) and green (non-winter) which are reflected in the responsibilities of this role. During the busy White Season, there is a strong hands-on presence required to ensure our visitors have an enjoyable experience whilst supporting members the Visitor Experience team. During the Green Season, there is a strong focus on strategic planning whilst promoting and enabling a year-round tourism destination.
This role requires the successful candidate to have well developed knowledge of tourism marketing, extensive experience project management, leadership and budget planning and management.
As in integral member of the leadership team we require someone who can think outside the box to provide change/solutions to support the tourism growth, development of the extended community whilst managing the impact on the natural environment/climate change.
What skills and experience we are looking for?
- Degree in marketing, tourism or related discipline or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience (mandatory).
- 5+ years' destination tourism or marketing and in leading/managing team(s).
- Experienced in writing grant funding applications independently and with other organisations for dual/multi funding schemes.
- Strong business acumen and a commercial focus to execute existing and proposed strategic initiatives and the capacity to drive change and deliver practical and financially responsible outcomes. Demonstrated experience working in a project management role.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Competent computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office Word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook
- Previous alpine industry experience is advantageous but not necessary.
- A current Victorian driver's licence
- Flexibility in work hours, including weekends and public holidays (during the white season).

Construction Labourers - Resort Operations

Our Assets & Operations Team at Mt Hotham are gearing up to commence some all-important CapEx and civil works projects once the snow has melted away. To assist with the roll out of these projects, we are looking for multi-skilled labourers, preferable with trade-based skills in plumbing, carpentry, concreting or general civil works etc. who are available from November through to April/May 2024!
Whilst undertaking general construction and labour tasks, either as a member of a team or independently it is important that safety is at the forefront of everything that our tradies do.
This unique work opportunity is based in the remote alpine region so you will need to bring not only your skills but also your love of nature!

- Trade qualifications or certificates of competency.
- Current Victorian driver licence.
- Victorian Working with Children Check.
- Desirable certificates/licences - Medium Rigid Driver's License, plant specific licences, such as Loader, Excavator, Backhoe, Forklift, Boom and EWP, current First Aid Certificate
- Physically capable of taking on demanding tasks in potentially harsh conditions.
- First-rate communicator with ability to manage expectations.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines whilst effortlessly multi-tasking.
- Laser sharp focus for the big and small details.
- A LOVE of the outdoors, including the rain, hail, and shine.
