Another 2cm fresh and the Pirate Life Rail Jam Tonight!
I was surprised to see it snowing lightly walking across the carpark early this morning. While not a lot, it's added up to a fresh 2 centimetres and mixed in with some overnight snowmaking there should be some fun to be had out there today.
The current temp is -1.9, headed for a top of 2 degrees and right now there's a moderate WNW wind with stronger gusts at times. There's still the odd fine flake in the air and a light fog in the Village.
The texture on the groomers feels great underfoot and I reckon they'll be the best option first up on a very edgeable surface. With the cool temps off piste will likely be firm and probably best avoided until some softening occurs.
For the early birds the Road Runner Quad will be spinning from 7:30am for WRX First Tracks. In more good news the Pirate Life Rail Jam is on tonight down at the Big D. Kicking off at 5:30pm, get along and check out all the action under lights!

Backcountry Conditions
4 August 2026
There is a significant sliding hazard in the backcountry again today. The 4 cm of fresh snow overnight may not have been enough to arrest a slide in the steeper areas, and wind exposed slopes will likely have no fresh snow on top. Take care out there!
We had a light dusting dusting of snow over night.. Last night ,again Village to Skiers xing was groomed, Whiskey Flat back to the climb out of Wire Plain combed.

You will be skiing on a little fresh again this morning Be aware that the cover is still thin in spots, ski with care especially on downhill sections. Watch out for the Australian Defence Force teams training down around the Biathlon range and say HI !.

The only place on Mt Hotham for tobogganing is at the HOTHAM HUB toboggan slope ( Wire Plain ) Bus stop 11.
The Hotham Hub has toilets, toboggan hire, hot food and drinks to make your experience all that more enjoyable.
The Peashooter toboggan slope at DP is also open.
Best XC Skiing
Village to Skiers xing. Wonderland and Rowards Run. Conditions are variable, crusty under a light dusting of fresh. Pack the snacks and enjoy the fresh.
Dinner Plain Trail
Cover thin, , Take care especially on downhill sections. There is walking involved.
