Fun Spring Turns!

Right now the sun is rising, there's just a little high cloud drifting across the tops and it looks as though we're in for a great day of spring sliding under partly cloudy skies.

The current temp is a chilly -3 degrees, it's expected to reach +3 and right now there's a light to moderate wind out of the NW.

With temps dipping down to -4.1 overnight the snow has had a solid freeze and will start off firm. The best options first up will be the groomed runs and then as the day progresses chase the solar aspects for fun spring turns off piste, just give it time to soften before venturing in.

Our snow base is still holding strong at just over 1 metre which is excellent for this stage of the season and there's still plenty of great terrain options available for all levels.

Come on up and make the most of it. Cheers, Burner.

Backcountry Conditions

Not a great day for the backcountry. The base has now frozen (at least at the higher elevations), and there is just a couple of centimeters of fresh snow on top. Low angles terrain may offer some ok turns but beware of all steep slopes that may pose a slide hazard, and keep an eye out for any glide cracks that may have opened up over the last couple of warm and wet days. Take care if you must head out there.

We had another dusting of fresh overnight. Village to Wire Plain and all Christmas Hill trails as far as Ryans Folly groomed last night.

Looking like a nice day out there. The skiing will be good on most trails . Both Charlies and Roward's have some large holes on one side of the track. Keeping an eye out these are avoidable. Groomer put in a nice groom Monday behind the snow fence across Wire Plain. . Trail to DP, groomed right through September 5th.This trail is now mostly a walk. MT LOCH. If heading out to explore that area, let someone know of your plans. Always keep an eye out for rapid weather changes.
