A Unique Alpine Village Nestled in the Victorian Alps
Dinner Plain is the perfect place for a country escape, surrounded by pristine nature and endless adventure opportunities.
Dinner Plain is located just 15 minutes from Mt Hotham, and is a truly individual village filled with rustic Australian charm. It is an ideal mountain get-away any time of the year particularly in winter when the Alps come alive with ski and snowboard lovers, couples and families, all enjoying what the snow-covered Dinner Plain has to offer.
The cosy village is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Dinner Plain boasts scenic village and bush walks, a Japanese-style onsen spa and retreat with outdoor hot springs, and various wine and dining options including Australia’s highest brewery.
Choose your adventures with biking, hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing along trails that leave from the centre of the cosy village, explore historic cattlemen’s huts from the gold rush era or head over to the famed downhill ski runs of Mount Hotham, with a shuttle bus able to run you there and back in just 10 minutes.
During winter there is a perfect beginner ski hill, complete with a tube park and tobogganing and snow-play area to make the ultimate snowman. The ski hill also runs on Wednesday and Saturday nights so you can ski under the starlight.
If you’re an animal lover, book yourself a dog sled ride and let some gorgeous huskies pull you through the unique bushland flora surrounding the village.
Snowshoe and Fondue is another one-of-a-kind experience. Starting at sunset from the Wire Plain shelter, the walk will weave its way to a hidden eco-village, where you’ll enjoy a delicious heart-warming glass of Glühwein by the camp-fire and learn the secrets of making French fondue inside a giant tipi.
All year round, Dinner Plain has no resort entry fee. So come and see for yourself everything that this gorgeous alpine village has to offer.
