Big D Opens, Guns Blazing and Night Skiing!

Well, it's all happening this morning. Currently skies are unexpectedly clear above and it looks as though it will be a spectacular sunrise.

After a chilly overnight low of -3.9 degrees, the current temp is -2.4 and it should max out at 1 degree. Right now there is a moderate wind out of the WSW and the forecast is calling for some cloud at times during the day.

There was a further 6cms of fresh snow recorded in the last 24 hours with all of it falling during the day yesterday, bringing the storm total to 36cms. With the drop in temps the snowmakers fired up and they're still pumping it out now.

The good news rolls on with the Big D chairlift set to be added to the open list for the first time this season! Plus, our Mountain Ops teams are hard at work prepping and assessing other areas as well so hopefully it won't be too long before there's more options available. Watch this space....

Oh! Night Skiing kicks off tonight also!

Have a ripper Saturday, Cheers, Burner.

Backcountry Conditions

Insufficient snow for the backcountry at this stage.

.No grooming of XC trails at present, however if you ski with care especially on downhill sections.you will have a very pleasant experience. Take your classics. When we start grooming you will be the first to know!!!!

Issued: Sat 4 July, 08:06PM

Our groomers are anxiously waiting for there to be enough snow depth and the right conditions for grooming to commence. Keep up the snow dances and fingers x'd for more of the white stuff.
Groomer Neil did a cheeky run through with the snow mobile on Saturday afternoon, village to Whiskey Flat . Not grooming as such, still pretty rough, but will be a bit of a pack down. So I do stress that care is needed as conditions are very variable.
cheers Bev.
