Wed 2 September, 08:00AM

The change is here.

After receiving some light showers last night it's a foggy start to the day in the Village and the forecast is calling for more showers at times throughout the day.

The current temp is +3.8 degrees, headed for a top of +5 degrees and the wind is currently strong from the NNW, which is expected to impact operations on the Summit Quad and Big D chairs. Please keep an eye on lift status page and Hotham App for real-time updates.

It was announced yesterday evening that Sunday the 6th of September will be the last day of lift operations for season 2026 which means there's not long to go to get a final slide in.

If you're heading out it'll definitely be a day for low light lenses. Cheers, Burner.

Backcountry Conditions

1 September There is a significant slide hazard in the backcountry again today. Although the temperature was above zero all night, the snowpack has had another freeze overnight. All aspects will be icy first thing this morning, solar aspects will soften for good turns as the day warms, but south facing and shaded slopes may stay slick and dangerous for much of the day. Take care.

Currently the rain is holding off. However it is forecast to be a windy rainy day. Mt Loch area not recommended today due to poor visibility. . So maybe catch the DP bus to Dinner Plain and take a leisurely walk along the DP trail through the snow gums back to Hotham.

Issued: Wed 2 September, 06:53AM

The Wire Plain trails are pretty much bare of snow.. Today might be the day to take the bus to D.P. and do the leisurely walk back to Hotham. Rug up well against the promised wet. Get out there for an invigorating day before a well earned hot chocolate in front of the fire.
TOBOGGANING AT MT HOTHAM. is STILL open for lots of fun. Book your tickets online at mthotham.com.au/toboggan
The only place on Mt Hotham for tobogganing is at the HOTHAM HUB toboggan slope ( Wire Plain ) Bus stop 12.
The Hotham Hub has toilets, toboggan hire, hot food and drinks to make your experience all that more enjoyable.
The Peashooter toboggan slope at DP is now closed.

Best XC Skiing
