Higher Education at Mount Hotham:
Alpine Secondary Education on the Mountain

Higher Education at Mount Hotham is a specialist alpine education program supporting secondary school students to continue their formal schooling while living in the Victorian Alps.

Designed for students based at Mount Hotham during winter, the program delivers structured, teacher‑led secondary education within the alpine environment. Students remain connected to their home schools, with learning aligned to curriculum requirements and individual academic goals.

Higher Education supports families who live and work on the mountain, as well as students balancing schooling with snowsports training or seasonal alpine life. Qualified teachers provide guided classroom learning while fostering independence, time management and self‑directed study skills.

Located at Mount Hotham, Victoria, Higher Education offers an alternative schooling option that allows students to stay on the mountain without compromising their education. The program recognises the unique opportunities of alpine living while ensuring students remain on track academically.

Higher Education at Mount Hotham provides a flexible, supportive education solution for students and families seeking secondary education in an alpine environment.

Enrolments are limited. Families are encouraged to enquire early.
