Group and school permits

For visitors travelling to the resort in a vehicle with 12 or more people such as a coach or with a tour operator, resort entry fees are payable per person.

Who can apply for group resort entry permits? 

Groups travelling to the Mt Hotham Resort by bus (i.e. a vehicle with the capacity to carry 12 or more people including the driver) can apply for a group resort entry permit.

What are the fees for my group resort entry permit?

$18.50 per adult per entry

$9.00 per child per entry – 6 to 17 years

Free entry for child 5 years and under

What if my group is staying off the mountain?

Resort entry permit fees are processed per person, per entry. If your group is staying outside the resort boundary resort entry fees are payable each time your group passes the resort entry points.

My group is travelling in a bus, we have an extra car travelling with us too. Are the occupants of the car included in the school payment system?

No, the occupants of the car are not included in the group booking numbers.  The accompanying car will need to book a separate resort entry permit. 

What if my group numbers change?

If your group number change please email groups@mthotham.com.au 72 hours prior to your arrival date. Group organisers are responsible for ensuring accurate numbers.

(Under the Alpine Resorts (Management) Regulations 2020)

 

All guests are advised to purchase their own travel insurance prior to travel.

  • The Passenger Permit is only valid on vehicles with the capacity to carry more than 12 passengers (Group Vehicles), including the driver, even if some of these seats are vacant.
  • All Group Vehicles (the Vehicle) stopping* within the boundaries of the Mt Hotham Alpine Resort must pay a fee per passenger, (excluding the driver) known as the Resort Entry Group Passenger Permit, each time the Group Vehicle enters the resort. *Vehicles transiting the resort without stopping do not require a permit. Transit time allowed is 60 minutes. 
  • The fees for the Resort Entry Group Passenger Permits (the Passenger Permit) can only be purchased by the Group Organiser through www.mthotham.com.au
  • The Passenger Permit entitles the passenger day and/or overnight resort entry access to Mt Hotham Alpine Resort for the day or dates purchased
  • The Passenger Permit is only valid for the dates on the Permit
  • The Passenger Permit is matched to the Group Vehicle's Manifest, provided to the Resort Management Board on booking, through mthotham.com.au 
  • If, on arrival in the resort, the Group Organiser has purchased an insufficient number of Passenger Permits, they will be required to pay the difference between the amount and the actual number of passengers. Failure to do so may result in an infringement being issued
  • Passenger Permits are non-refundable 
  • If additional Passengers Permits are required to be purchased, the Group Organiser must contact groups@mthotham.com.au up to 72 hours prior to arrival  
  • Date transfers are permitted up to 72 hours prior to the purchased arrival date by contacting groups@mthotham.com.au. No fees are required for this change. 

 

Abide by Regulations

  • The driver of the Group Vehicle must comply with the directions of the Board under Alpine Resorts (Management) Regulations 2020 (Regulations) given at any time or from time to time in the interests of safety or for the management, protection or control of traffic at Mt Hotham. 
  • The driver of the Group Vehicle must comply with the Regulations and directions relating to diamond pattern wheel chains and ensure that the vehicle is suitably equipped to drive on a declared Hazardous Road and on icy and snow covered roads.
  • The driver and all holders of the Passenger Permit must indemnify and keep indemnified the Mt Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board from and against any and all claims, losses, damage and liability (whether civil or criminal) including any injury or death which is incurred by the Board as a result of the use of the vehicle at Mt Hotham whether by the driver, any person claiming under the driver or any third party. 
  • The driver and any person claiming under the driver releases the Board from and against any claim, loss, damage or liability (whether civil or criminal) including injury or death as a result of the use of the vehicle at Mt Hotham. 
  • Under Regulation 29 a vehicle left without lawful authority in the Resort may be seized and removed by an Authorised Officer and may be retained until the owner reimburses the cost of removal, retention and release of the vehicle.

 

Notification of Changes

  • The Mount Hotham Resort Management Board reserves the right to change these Permit conditions where necessary. 

 

Refunds and Cancellations

  • Passenger Permits are non-refundable, except in extraordinary circumstances at the discretion of the RMB.
