Making it snow

We now have more snow on tap, than ever before! From the top of the Summit to the bottom of Heavenly Valley, from green runs to blacks, snowmaking has us covered. With extensive snowmaking increasing the chance of reliable snow conditions, you can book your snow trip earlier with confidence, knowing you can ski and ride more of Hotham's terrain more often.

Our ongoing snowmaking investment has continued with an extra 8 new, state-of-the-art mobile snow guns over 2020-2021.

Hotham now boasts a total of 33 hectares of skiable terrain covered by snowmaking with 112 snowguns, and uses recycled water from the Hotham Village water treatment plant.

2016-2021 Snowmaking Investment Stats:

  • Total investment: $4.9 million
  • 32 new TechnoAlpin fan guns (bringing our fleet to 112 guns!)
  • 2.4 kilometres of water mains
  • 32 new snowmaking outlets
  • The Summit area 18 hydrants
  • Increased Capacity: an additional 288,000 litres of water can be turned into snow per hour of operation.
  • 40% increase in skiable area covered by snowmaking
