Your resort entry fee covers your access to the resort and helps fund a range of important services including the Mt Hotham Ski Patrol, village snow clearing, free village transport, traffic and car parking services, cross country trail grooming, waste management and environmental management.
Season Resort Entry Permits provide great value if you are planning to visit the resort for an extended period of time. There are also options available for day & multi-day visitors as well as school and bus groups.
Schools and group rates
Groups travelling into the Mt Hotham Resort by bus (i.e. a vehicle with the capacity to carry 12 or more people including the driver) can apply for a group resort entry permit.
School groups travelling as part of a Department of Education excursion are offered the schools concession rate.
Do I Need Resort Entry?
All vehicles stopping in a Victorian Alpine Resort must have a valid authorised Resort Entry Permit. If you travel directly through the resort from Dinner Plain / Omeo to Harrietville or Harrietville to Dinner Plain / Omeo and do not stop, you will not require a resort entry permit. Your resort exit point must differ from your resort entry point.
If you are dropping off family or friends within the resort you are still required to purchase a resort entry permit as all vehicles stopping within the resort boundaries must have a valid permit to cover visitors using the resort facilities.

What types of permits can I purchase from the online resort entry system?
Day, multi-day and season long permits for private vehicles can be purchased.

Do I have to stop at the Resort Entry Point?
No, however you may be requested to stop by an Authorised Officer in the interest of your safety due to adverse road conditions.
Do I need a resort entry permit if:
I am travelling through the resort? If you travel directly through the resort from Dinner Plain/Omeo to Harrietville or Harrietville to Dinner Plain/Omeo and do not stop, you do not require a resort entry permit. Your resort exit point must differ from your resort entry point.
I am staying in Dinner Plain? If you are passing through the resort to stay in Dinner Plain you are not required to purchase a resort entry permit. However, if you stop at any time within the resort boundaries you are required to purchase a permit. If you are staying in Dinner Plain and are day tripping into the resort you must purchase a permit.
I am just dropping off family / friends within the resort to ski or have lunch etc? Yes. All vehicles stopping within the resort boundary must have valid permit because the people you are dropping off are using the resort facilities.
I’m visiting in winter and will be snow camping, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing etc. outside the resort boundary; my vehicle will be parked safely on the side of the road and I will not be using any resort facilities? If your vehicle will be parked outside the resort boundary, a permit is not required. If you are parked within the resort boundary such as at Diamantina Hut you will require a resort entry permit.
I park at Wangaratta Ski Club? Yes, you will need a resort entry permit because Wangaratta Ski Club is located within the resort boundary.
What if I cannot make it through the resort in the prescribed time (e.g. mechanical problems)?
Please contact the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board Office as soon as possible.
What happens if I do not buy a resort entry permit?
An infringement notice will be issued to any vehicle stopping in the resort or to passengers in a bus who have not paid entry fees.
What if I wish to stay longer?
Simply access your Alpine Easy Access account to purchase a new permit, before your current permit expires.

We accept payment by Visa and Mastercard only.
Can I get a tax invoice?
A tax invoice is emailed to your registered email address when you purchase a permit.
Why should I give my mobile phone number when registering?
Your mobile phone number is your account number. Providing your mobile number allows us to send you significant road condition updates via SMS. A SMS reminder will also be sent to you on the day your permit is due to expire.
Why must I get the vehicle registration number correct?
You need to provide your vehicle’s number plate detail so a permit can be assigned to the vehicle. Our number plate recognition system notes your number plate detail and checks if you have a permit. If you have incorrectly entered the number plate detail your vehicle will be deemed as not having a parking permit and will incur an infringement notice.
What if I have several vehicles?
The Alpine Easy Access system allows you to register multiple vehicles to your profile. For each permit purchased one vehicle is nominated. Vehicle details cannot be changed on an active permit (ie. once the time period for your permit has commenced).
