4 cm and still snowing!

We've had 4 cm of cold dry snow overnight and it is still snowing lightly this morning.  The current temp is minus 3.6, the wind is a moderate northerly, and we are heading for a top of minus 2 degrees.  The snowguns have had another good run and are still pumping it out right now.

The base is rock solid and there are a few centimeters of dry snow sitting on top.  The groomers will be the best option, but you may find a few drifted areas offering some shallow fresh turns.  Hunt around and you'll find the fun, but beware of steeper off-piste zones that will still be very slick underneath.

The forecast is calling for snow showers to continue today and tomorrow, and there are signs of very significant promise in the near future.   Stay tuned!

Rug up for the windchill and have a good one out there.

Cheers Bill

Backcountry Conditions

4 August 2026 There is a significant sliding hazard in the backcountry again today. The 4 cm of fresh snow overnight may not have been enough to arrest a slide in the steeper areas, and wind exposed slopes will likely have no fresh snow on top. Take care out there!
