Sun, Guns and Night Skiing Tonight!

After the final snow flurries yesterday afternoon the storm has cleared out, the sky is filled with stars and a there's a stunning sunrise on the way.

At 6am the temp is bang on zero after an overnight low of -3 and it should max out at a balmy 6 degrees. Right now the wind is a strong southerly bringing the windchill down, making it feel much colder in exposed areas. However this is expected to ease as the day progresses.

With the clearing skies and drop in temps the snowmakers were able to fire up and they're  still going now adding some texture to the cover. The surface feels like it's been turned over well, however just properly assess it as it could be firm in places also.

It was awesome to get Road Runner up and running yesterday and the same lifts are ready to roll today. If you can't get enough during the day head down to the Big D tonight where the good times will roll on under lights until 8:30pm.

Have a fun one. Cheers, Burner.

Backcountry Conditions

It's a bad day for the backcountry. The visibility is poor, the weather is wet and the cover is thin and punchy. Leave it for another day but take care if you must head out there.

No grooming last night. Conditions too soft and wet. Wind has definitely eased off some. Lower trails are more sheltered.

Take your classics and a positive attitude. Ski with care as the surface is variable. It will be soft and wet . Call into the Wire Plain Hub for a warming drink and snack.
There was a group who skiied to D.P. yesterday. Didn't take skis off just dodged the thin and bare patches. Reported it wasn't the easiest ski, but they enjoyed themselves. One of them hadn't XC skied before. They also saw an emu down at Mother Johnson's. Quite the adventure. So maybe worth giving it a go.
TOBOGGANING AT MT HOTHAM. is now open for lots of fun. Book your tickets online to avoid missing out when it gets very busy. Book at.... mthotham.com.au/toboggan
The only place on Mt Hotham for tobogganing is at the HOTHAM HUB toboggan slope ( Wire Plain ) Bus stop 11.
