Recent initiatives by private developers and Resort Management demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the future of Mount Hotham as a leading alpine resort.

Improved accommodation facilities, upgraded year round commercial facilities and services, an increased choice in ski runs and enhanced snowmaking capabilities have all contributed to the recent growth of Mount Hotham.

Mission Statement

The Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board will manage the resort in a manner that is economically viable and environmentally sustainable for the benefit of current and future generations.

The Board's emphasis will be on development investment, customer satisfaction and the delivery and promotion of quality services that provide value for money and meet customer needs. Responsible and sustainable environmental management policies and practices will be a hallmark of the Board's activities.


Focus

The following core responsibilities are the focus of the Board's management of the Resort.

Customer Service

The Board in a co-operative endeavour with its stakeholders, will pursue growth in visitation through effective marketing and enhanced customer satisfaction and loyalty, by providing a quality seamless offer to customers.

Resort Services

The Board will ensure its village operations and visitor and administrative services are comprehensive, and are delivered effectively and efficiently in an environmentally sound manner.

Resort Investment

The Board will create an environment that encourages and promotes appropriate new investment in the Resort.

Environmental Management

The Board will ensure that contemporary sustainable environmental policies and management practices are maintained across the Resort so that the mountain's natural systems, which give it's rare and valuable biodiversity, are valued and where possible enhanced for future generations.

Workforce And Organisational Development

The Board will build a high performance, commercially oriented and customer focused team. It will provide a safe and caring working environment, encouraging professional and personal growth and rewarding performance in the context of a continuous improvement philosophy.

Financial Management

The Board will ensure that its financial performance delivers an economically viable enterprise that demonstrates the effective and efficient use of assets and produces real value for money to stakeholders and customers.

Corporate Governance

The Board will ensure that all statutory obligations are met and that sound and ethical business practices are adopted particularly in the areas of risk management, corporate citizenship and public responsibility.

Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council

The Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council (ARCC) is a statutory body established under the Victorian Alpine Resorts Management Act 1997. It reports to the Minister for Environment.

The functions of the ARCC include:

  • To plan for and facilitate the establishment, development, promotion, management and use of alpine resorts
  • To review and coordinate implementation of the Alpine Resorts 2020 Strategy
  • To undertake research into alpine resort issues
  • To liaise with and encourage cooperation of all parties involved in the development, promotion, management and use of alpine resorts
  • To monitor the development and implementation of Strategic Management Plans for each alpine resort
  • To make recommendations to the Minister on matters related to the provision and improvement of services and facilities in alpine resorts
  • To coordinate, in conjunction with Tourism Victoria, the overall promotion of alpine resorts
  • To attract investment for the improvement of the alpine resorts.

The ARCC's vision is "to inspire generations of Australians to experience the excitement, energy, splendour and tranquillity of Victoria's mountains".

The Mt Hotham Resort Management Board works closely with the Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council (ARCC) in all areas, including development, promotion, management and use of the Mt Hotham Alpine Resort, and the other five Victorian Alpine Resorts.

Performance Management

The Board will ensure that appropriate corporate performance indicators are developed, monitored and published.


Service Areas

The Board's activities service three principal areas.

Visitor Services

Direct delivery to visitors of transport, ski patrol, ticket sales, visitor information, parking control, snow clearing and public amenities.

Property Services

Urban services of water supply, sewerage, gas supply and solid waste management.

Stakeholder Services

Resort planning and development, marketing, land and lease management, and revenue collection.
