Mt Hotham Alpine Resort Management - Strategic Management Plan

(Final version as submitted to the Minister)

We think that Mount Hotham is the most exciting alpine resort in Australia. Of the larger Victorian resorts it is also the one that has seen the most growth over the past decade and, in addition, it is poised to experience the most significant and environmentally sustainable development of any Australian alpine resort.

With the amendment to the Alpine Resorts (Management) Act 1997 in particular, “Pt 4 Div.4 S56A – 56H”, all Boards of Alpine Resorts are required to submit a 5 year Strategic Management Plan to the Minister for Environment for approval.

The Board has developed the Strategic Management Plan after inviting any interested parties to contribute to the planning process, therefore assisting the Board in producing the most comprehensive and appropriate plan possible.

The Strategic Management Draft Plan is one of three key documents that collectively describe the future development of Mount Hotham. It provides the vision for Mount Hotham as well as the formal link between the Alpine Resorts 2020 Strategy and the formal development of the Resort as specified in the Alpine Resorts Planning Scheme for Mt Hotham. It is the Board’s opportunity to confirm and consolidate the nature of Mount Hotham’s future.
