Austen Alpine Club

The Club was founded in 1971 and a plot was secured in Dargo Court that enjoys superb views of the Southern Alps. The 31 bed lodge was constructed in its entirety by the 35 founding members and was ready for the 1974 season.

Recently the lounge, bathrooms and kitchen have all been renovated and the Club has a lease until 2028.  The Club is non profit and is debt free.

The Club has always been family oriented and has a history of fostering participation of the young in sports such as cross country racing and the biathlon competition.  The Club also subsidises school groups by providing affordable accommodation rates to schools.  The lodge has a friendly atmosphere and the living areas are most convivial and invite fun and social interaction by all present.

Membership affords substantially discounted accommodation for the member plus 3 others accompanying the member.  Over the years the Club has repurchased a number of memberships and the membership number now stands at 22.  With these numbers and 31 beds, members are easily able to book all the accommodation they want.

Further details are available by visiting the website and contacting the Club Secretary.
