Season opens with a big bang and a new website for Hotham Alpine Resort
The Hon. Tim Holding MP, Minister for Finance, Water, Tourism & Major Events, officially opened the 2009 winter season at Hotham and at the same time, launched the new Hotham Alpine Resort website.
Speaking to a gathering of VIPs including Danielle Green MP and local member Bill Sykes, media, board members, staff and local stakeholders, Minister Holding said, “The ski company and the RMB do a fantastic job of boosting and supporting tourism in Victoria.” He congratulated everyone for putting their hearts and souls into the resort and for creating something special for the people who visit this unique part of Victoria. “There is nowhere I would rather be this weekend than at Hotham for the opening of the season, I love Hotham and I love it in every season,” said Minister Holding.
Of the newly combined single site for Hotham Alpine Resort, a step beyond the former independent sites developed and held by Hotham Skiing Company and the Mt Hotham RMB, the response from all was very positive. Hotham Skiing Company GM, Belinda Trembath said, “As everything we do is about the guest experience, by having a one-stop shop for all information it will be much clearer for our guests.”
CEO of the Mt Hotham Resort Management Board, Geoff Provis said, “We will continue to work together (with Hotham Skiing Company) to be the best ski resort in Australia, that will only become even better. Achieving one new website is an example of this cooperation.”
A huge fireworks display was held on Saturday evening to celebrate the season opening and with 10cms of snow and more on the way we look forward to making some turns in the not too distant future!
The season officially opened on Saturday 6 June and will close on 27 September 2009.
