We bid farewell to season 2012

We bid farewell to season 2012

As the sun sets on another snow season at Hotham it’s a great time to look back and reflect on what a great one it’s been.

Over 4 metres of snow fell from season start to finish and we reached an average natural snowdepth of 208 centimetres on September 8, the first time since 2004 that we’ve passed the 2 metre mark. Snow was falling on the final day and Season 2012 really was one to Chuck a Snowie, and we saw lots of snow-lovers doing just that.

Snowfalls weren’t the only part of this season that made it so memorable. With a myriad of fantastic events all season long, there was something to keep visitors at Hotham entertained all season long.

Learn to ski weeks in June and September saw those who were new to the snow build some skills on skis or a snowboard. Harry the Snowdragon’s birthday party and twice-weekly shows were a hit as always. Competitors wowed the crowd with impressive tricks and big air during the five courses of the A la Carte in the Park Series.

Demo tents from SkiMag, Burton and more meant skiers and snowboarders alike could test drive a brand new snowboard or pair of skis. We launched our new on-mountain passport event Cruz the Blues and Conquer the Blacks, presented by Renault, where guests had fun exploring more of Hotham than ever before.

Chicks with Stix returned over two weekends and Women’s Ski Week saw numbers increase on last year. The Frosty Fruits Gay Ski Week had fun in the snow in August and Jimmy Blaze and Cory Davis put on an awesome freestyle snowmobile show in less than perfect weather.
