What's On Opening Weekend

Head up to Hotham for the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend

With winter just around the corner and snow already on the ground, Hotham, Victoria’s highest alpine village, is gearing up for an exciting Opening Weekend on 6 - 8 June.

Hotham’s 2009 season will kick off with a dazzling fireworks display to officially open the mountain and a weekend of celebrations. Many of Hotham’s popular venues will be hosting Opening Weekend events including UK DJ, Simon James, (upstairs) and Local legend Benny Willams (downstairs) at The General (Saturday 6) and complimentary cocktails for dinner guests at Fountains Restaurant.

On Sunday 7 the entertainment includes The Queen’s Ball (‘Tiaras or Tuxedos’) at Rundells Alpine Lodge at Dinner Plain including a wine auction, ‘Jazz & Shiraz’ with Garth Ploog at Cilantro Tapas Restaurant and Wine Bar, and at The General, The Village Band (downstairs) and the long awaited return of Hotham legend, DJ Eddy, cranking out some retro tunes upstairs.

In addition to the Opening Weekend festivities, a promising season forecast and great value package deals, there are plenty of other reasons to get excited about the start of the winter season. New resort initiatives and activities include: the return of QantasLink direct flights to Hotham Airport from Sydney (services start July 3), 50% off Friday deals for full-time tertiary students, completion of the Kids Snowzone redevelopment, regular Après Evenings, fireworks and a whole lot more!

June is a great time to ski and save! Get Value Season prices on lift passes – only $76 for adults, youths $65, children $38. Prices won’t change in this value period even if all lifts are open!
