Continuous nights of below zero temperatures ensured that the first run for Hotham's snowguns over the weekend was a great success.
Two runs of 12 hours each were conducted and resulted in the production of around 50 truckloads of snow.
The Mountain Operations Team recently heli-lifted our snowmaking guns into place this week to reduce breaking the considerable snow base we already have from recent natural snowfalls. No natural snowfalls were experienced over the weekend of 16/17 May.
General Manager of Operations Len Dobell says, “The snow that fell over the Anzac weekend was substantial and in many places has frozen and become the start of our base for 2009."
The Hotham 09 snow season will officially kick off on Saturday 6 June.
