Easter Polo @ Hotham celebrates its 20th Anniversary

The Polo returns to its original location for 20th anniversary celebrations! Join us for all the fun on Easter Sunday.

The Geebung vs. Cuff ‘n’ Collar Polo Match celebrates its 20th anniversary on Easter Sunday 2009. The event draws thousands of people each year to see Victoria’s top city based polo players (the “Cuff and Collar” team) do battle with the high country cattlemen (the “Geebung Polo” team).

This unique sporting and spectator event started “over a few quiet drinks” at the Dinner Plain Hotel, where a mix of city and country “lads” formed the institution now known as the Geebung Polo Club.

This year’s event is sponsored by High Plains Hotel, based in Dinner Plain.

Easter festivities at the event, organised by Hotham Alpine Resort, include scenic helicopter rides, running races, frozen chook throwing, tug-o-war and everyone’s favourite – the Easter egg drop. For fashionistas, there will be Fashions on the Field, sponsored by Amulet Winery of Beechworth, with great prizes to be won.

The talented Lee Rosser (former ‘Rambunctious’ frontman) will get the party started, performing music from his latest album, Giving Yourself Away. The album uses only vocals (Rosser has a three octave vocal range), guitar and drums so the music has a smooth, percussive feel. Bobby Valentine & Band will also play a number of sets throughout the afternoon.

For anyone looking to kick back and relax over the Easter holiday weekend, the Onsen Retreat and Spa at Dinner Plain will be open for massages, spa treatments, lazing in the Japanese Onsen and gym or swim sessions.
