CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, AUSTRALIAN SKI AREAS ASSOCAITION.
It is with pleasure that the Australian Ski Areas Association (ASAA) announces the appointment of Ashley Blondel as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 1 September 2009.
Ashley was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Perisher Blue Ski Resort from 1997 to early 2006. He has since retired part time, whilst continuing as a Director of Perisher Blue Pty Limited and also holding several other Board positions across a number of organisations in the ski industry as well as in other sectors of private enterprise.
The ASAA’s current Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Ramsey, has decided to retire from the position effective 31 August 2009. Andrew has been the Association’s Chief Executive Officer since 2004, and has overseen and been responsible to initiate and deliver many significant developments and activities for and on behalf of the Association over the past five years.
Andrew has been largely responsible for lifting the profile and public awareness of the ASAA, as well as forging a new industry role for the Association that has set the stage for its continued leadership of the snow and alpine leisure industry in Australia. The Association has played a role in ensuring issues such as climate change and the environment are understood from the perspective of the key alpine tourism operators. Andrew has forged links with industry partners to create a platform for a new and exciting development in the snow tourism market.
The members of the ASAA, representing the country’s ski lifting and resort operators, wishes to publicly and formally thank Andrew for his diligence, leadership and guidance as its Chief Executive Officer, and wishes him well and every success in his future endeavours.
The Board and members of the ASAA now look forward to the next stage of its development and influence with Ashley’s appointment. He brings many years of experience to the position, not only as a senior executive in the Australian ski and snow industries, but from his background as a lawyer and as his extensive experience with and in community organisations also.
