Hotham has just wrapped up a week of international standard events hosting the FIS Australia New Zealand Cup Boardercross Championships, then the FIS ANC Alpine Championships from 17 – 21 August and the FIS Continental Cup Skier-X Championships last weekend.
The ANCs showcased the highest level of Alpine Ski Racing in the Southern Hemisphere; with Olympians and National Team athletes from 18 different nations who competed in two Giant Slalom and two Slalom races, to vie for the title of ANC Champion and to improve their world ranking.
Over 80 male and 50 female competitors raced for the title of ANC winner representing countries from as far as Slovakia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Sweden and the US to name a few.
Of the two ANC GS races, Jared Goldberg from the USA and Niklas Rainer from Sweden took out first place in the men's event, with Jana Gantnerova from Slovakia and Charline Vion from France taking out first place in the women's rankings.
Despite trying weather conditions on the weekend for the FIS Continental Cup Skier X Competition everyone involved made mention of how they enjoyed the course.
Athlete Sarah Sauvey who calls Hotham her home mountain came second in both Skier X finals with Magdalena Iljans from Sweden and Fanny Smith from Switzerland taking out first place in the women's finals number 1 and 2 respectively.
Scott Kneller from Australia came out on top in both the men's finals.
