After a grueling weekend of action on Snake Gully locals take out the major titles.
Saturday saw a sturdy group of men, women and juniors take on the best of Victoria on the Giant Slalom Course. After two runs, Christian Gieger took out the the open men's championship and DJ Hoedermaker took out the open women's category. DJ has only just become eligible to compete in the Junior Championships - so taking out the Junior and Open Women's title is a huge victory...obviously a Hotham skier to watch in the future, along side young veteran Christian.
Today's event took on a different feel in the form of a Sprint Slalom - the first event of it's kind in the Southern Hemisphere, where skiers have 2 runs on the first course,  the course is re-set, and competitors race the second course twice as well. The best time on the first and second course is then combined - giving them a total time. Luke Laidlaw, another Hotham athlete was crowned Open Men's Champion of this event and Layla Lee, from Falls Creek, was heroed as the Open Women's Champion.
