Hotham to host FIS ANC Ski Cross

Elite athletes will arrive at Hotham this week to compete in the FIS Australian New Zealand Continental Cup, Ski Cross event. Many competitors will stay on afterwards to prepare for the World Junior Series in New Zealand later this month.

The mountain will host the Australian Junior Team’s training camp, reinforcing Hotham’s reputation as a training ground for world class athletes.

Ski Cross debuted as an Olympic sport in Vancouver this year and Hotham is excited to welcome more Olympians to the hill.

British Olympian and Mt Hotham Race Club alumni, Sarah Sauvey will return to compete this weekend after coming 2nd in last year’s event and placing 34th in this year’s Winter Olympics.

Winner of the 2009 FIS ANC Ski Cross, Scott Kneller from Thredbo will come back to defend his title after placing 12th at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Jenny Owens from Perisher will also be in attendance after taking 15th place at the Olympics and placing 2nd in Hotham’s 2008 event.

Buller’s Ski Cross Olympian Katya Crema, who placed 17th in the Games, will also be competing this weekend after placing 5th and 6th in the 2009 FIS ANC Ski Cross.

This is the highest level of Ski Cross competition in the Southern Hemisphere. Catch all the action on Hotham’s Rider Cross Course on Saturday and Sunday morning!
