The Hotham Challenge Ride is back in 2012 with a brand new epic 208km Dinner Plain – Mt Buffalo return ride leg option!
We’re also excited to announce Melbourne elite cycling team Velobourne has teamed up with long time Hotham Challenge Ride support crew Ridewiser to complete this challenging new ride leg and offer on and off road support to event participants along the way.
We have revamped the popular Dinner Plain Festival of Cycling in the event’s sixth year to help take your cycling to new heights. Participant numbers are still capped 120 cyclists to ensure each step of this three-day cycling event is fully supported and personalised. Register NOW to secure your place and guarantee correct jersey sizing.
Included in your event registration is seven fully supported ride leg options over the 3 days, a Ridewiser Coaching Clinic and Mechanical Workshop run by Olympian cyclist Rob Crowe to ensure you can confidently and safely take on climbing and descending the Great Alpine Road. Don’t forget your exclusive 2XU event jersey and the delicious gourmet bbq at Rundells once your Challenge Ride is complete.Â
Past participants know the ascent to the Hotham Summit is no walk in the park. The climb is famously one of the most challenging rides in Victoria with grades of up to 18% and an average grade of 4.8% over the 35km winding road.
It doesn’t stop at cycling! With an Official Event Dinner and social post-ride BBQs, spend the Labour Day long weekend with friends and family. Enjoy all that the Victorian Alps has to offer with good food, wine and company.
Next year the Monday ride will meander to Swifts Creek, exploring the other side of Hotham’s Great Alpine Road, followed by a long and relaxing lunch at the pub. The ride back to Dinner Plain is optional!
