Spend the Australia Day holiday enjoying all the great activities Hotham and Dinner Plain have to offer. The fun continues into the weekend…take Friday off and make a long weekend out of it!
The General will have heaps going on for Australia day weekend, including a thong throwing competition, Aussie trivia, loads of giveaways, Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown on Thursday and LIVE music from Thursday night to Sunday! Great meal specials will be on offer plus fantastic accommodation.
Relax on Australia Day with friends and tunes from Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown at Hamster Bar at the High Plains Lodge. Join in some traditional Aussie games including Two-up and a wood-chopping competition. On Saturday 28 January, it is Australian Country Night! Activities at Hamster Bar kick off at midday with a LIVE band, bush dancing, pig on a spit, meat raffle, kids colouring-in competition, whip-cracking, best dressed and a husband and wife wheelbarrow competition.
Head over to the Dinner Plain Hotel, and check out International Night – of course this week, celebrating Australia Day it’s more like National Night! Weather dependent, there will be a BBQ as well as cricket and bocce games on the lawn. Hopefully Mother Nature will do her bit and give us some sunshine!
Most venues at Hotham and Dinner Plain will be open for Australia Day and the weekend, offering everything from a sandwich to fine dining. Download the What's On for more information and opening hours.
Please note Zirky’s Café will be closed on Australia Day.
