Hotham’s 2011 A la Carte Park Series wrapped up yesterday with the final course of the season – Spring Sessions Sorbet Slopestyle.
Mother Nature and her high winds didn’t put a dampener on the competitors as they battled it out on the kickers and rails in an effort to impress the judges.
With a number of strong contenders for title of the Park Series Champion, there was intense anticipation as competitors took to the slope in yesterday’s Spring Sessions Sorbet Slopestyle.
Bailey Johnson snuck in a win in the Men’s Grommet Ski Category increasing his final score but just missing out in winning the Park Series title and settling for third overall.
The girls showed off their skills in the Women’s Open Ski and Snowboarding categories. Lucy Kiah took out a win for the snowboarding category and Sarah Fleming produced a winning heat to take home first place in the Spring Sessions Sorbet Slopestyle and second overall in the Park Series in the Women’s Open Ski category.
Nik Grey, reining champ of the Park Series Junior Men’s Snowboarding category for the last two years was successful in retaining his title while Claire Pelly took out the Junior Women’s Snowboarding category.
The Women’s Open Snowboarding category saw some fierce competition but Tarmaysia Tan was just too strong and took out first place while Allie Coates managed to hold on to the top podium in the Open Men’s Snowboarding category.
The Open Ski category saw Luke Bicknell take gold for the men and Katrina Rast took out first place for the women’s.
Bailey Teague won first place for snowboarding in the Grommet boy’s category. The Mills family rounded out a great series with Carter Mills taking the top podium in the Grommet Boys Ski category and Cody Mills hot on his heels in second.
Sophie Norris preformed sublimely to take out first place in the Girls Grommet Ski category.
After the event competitors were treated to a series wrap up BBQ at The General Store. Competitors were hooked up with helmets and goggles by POC and some great eyewear by Oakley while each category winner was awarded a pair of Liquid Image goggles on top of a 2012 Hotham A La Carte in the Park Series entry.
