October Snowplay

October Snowplay

In what was a bittersweet twist to the end of the season, Hotham received approximately 50cm of fresh snow and Dinner Plain around 70cm since closing weekend on 27 September. On the final weekend 51cm of snow also fell at Hotham.

No chairs on lifts was not enough to deter some keen skiers and riders who were earning their fresh powder turns in spring.

The Summit was transformed from the usual landscape dominated by skiers and snowboarders to a buzz of people enjoying any form of sliding including snowboards, toboggans, boogie boards and even skateboard decks!

John and Freda from Bright (pictured below) even took the opportunity to treat their granddaughters to a snow picnic.

There is still plenty of snow sitting around and Zirky’s Café are grinding some great coffee so head up to Hotham this weekend for some snowplay. The DP Onsen + Spa at Dinner Plain is also operating year round for those who want some relaxing and pampering, rather than snowplay alone.

With cold temperatures continuing across south-east Australia, more snow is predicted to fall from today throughout the week.
