Official welcome for season 2012

Official welcome for season 2012

This morning a special morning tea was held in Hotham’s Sales Deck where General Manger of Mt. Hotham Skiing Company (MHSC) Belinda Trembath, Divisional Director of Merlin Entertainments Group Edward Fuller, Chair of the Mt. Hotham Resort Management Board (MHRMB) Nicole Feeney and the Honourable Minister for Environment and Honourable Minister for Climate Change Ryan Smith, each gave a unique welcome and officially announced the 2012 snow season at Hotham.

Belinda Trembath was thrilled about the four lifts that are turning for Opening Weekend, mentioning that this is the best opening Hotham has had in over a decade. The year 2000 was a fantastic winter in terms of snowfall so fingers crossed for spectacular snow this year.

Merlin Entertainments Group is the new owner of Hotham Alpine Resort and Edward Fuller brings vigour and enthusiasm to the resort. Although Merlin is new to ski resorts and there is much to learn, we all strive to learn everyday and to do things ‘The Merlin Way’ by caring for our guests, and creating an overall wonderful experience.

Nicole Feeney has been extremely busy in previous years, putting together the Draft Alpine Resorts Strategic Plan for 2012. The plan is ready for public consultation this year covering big picture goals, objectives and opportunities for Victoria’s alpine resorts.

The Honourable Minister for Environment and Honourable Minister for Climate Change Ryan Smith touched briefly on this year’s waste management control and water recycling system. We endeavour to ensure this beautiful, natural environment remains as unchanged as possible.

Across all aspects of the resort there is excitement and a buzz in the air about the season to come.
