We’ve embraced a snowy start to August with open arms here at Hotham, having received 20cm of fresh snow in the past 48 hours and 216cm for the season to date. Mother Nature topped up the already fantastic snow cover with 6cm fresh last night and those that remain true to ‘no friends on a powder day’ would have been out there for fresh tracks at 7.30am.
The average natural snowdepth is currently sitting at a very healthy 136cm and further snow is in the forecast for this weekend before the sun comes out to play on Monday – chuck a snowie anyone? More snowflakes are due to fall from Tuesday through to Thursday. High winds have caused some lifts to go on wind hold so fingers crossed the winds die down shortly, opening up a bit more terrain for skiing and snowboarding.
There is a huge lineup of events on offer at Hotham and Dinner Plain this weekend. Step up to the challenge and see how many blue and black runs you can complete during Cruz the Blues and Conquer the Blacks, brought to you by Renault! Pick up a passport from Guest Services on Saturday or Sunday and start cruising, then bring your passport with you to the daily presentations at 4pm in Chill Bar and you could be the proud new owner of an XBOX KINECT or a SUUNTO SPORTS WATCH! This new event is completely FREE and all participants go into the major prize draw for a trip to Sydney for four people!
Rossignol will have their demo tent set up at the top of the Village Chair so come and check out the latest and greatest! This weekend could be your time to fall in love with a new pair of skis.
