The Bright College Snowsports Race Team has just returned from Victorian Interschool Championships at Mt Buller.
Congratulations to all the Bright College students (and Parents), who made the trip to Mt Buller last week for the Victorian Interschool Championships. Once again is was a fantastic event, with the children enjoying some great racing, putting in some great performances and having a bit of fun when time permitted. All students performed very well and should be proud of their achievements.
Overall school results, Bright P-12 College finished 4th in both the Co-Ed Secondary and Primary categories. This is a fantastic result, equaling the best ever result for the secondary students, and just short of our best result (3rd in 2006) for the primary students.
The Division 4 Boys Snowboard team of Joseph Paterson, Lachlan Richardson and Fischer Richardson performed a clean sweep in the Snowboard events taking out the team gold for both events, and winning the Sunsmart Snowboard Cup.
Overall, the team received 6 Gold medals, 10 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals in the State Championships. Rebecca Brown put in a stunning performance in the Division 5 Girls Alpine to take out the individual gold in this prestigious event, Louis Muhlen also left all other competitors in his wake to take out individual gold in the Cross Country Classic race.
The entire Division 1 Boys Alpine team of Danny Foster, Sandy Fenn, Jeremy O’Sullivan and Danny Geiger finished in the top 10, with Danny Foster winning individual Bronze, the Division 3 Girls Cross Country Team of Tilly Pascoe, Tjuntu Muhlen and Samantha Young showed great form to finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the XC Classic to win team gold. They will be hoping to go 1 better at the National Interschool Championships by also winning the XC Relay, after a very close fought 2nd at the state championships. Tilly is also the State and National 12 year old Champion in both XC classic and skate events.
These results have given the Bright College Snowsports Race Team a record number of places in the state team to contest the National Interschool Championships to be held at Falls Creek starting next Thursday, 13th September.
Best of luck to all competitors at the National Interschool Champioships, especially the Bright College Snowsports Race Team.
