The rebuild of the Silver Brumby Hut takes shape
Distressed timber has been sourced for the exterior of the hut.

Mount Hotham Resort Management and the Rotary Club of Sale Central are working together to rebuild the Silver Brumby Hut, originally a film prop for the movie of the same name. The hut was not built to last and had become unsafe for visitors.

At present, construction is well advanced, the steel frame is complete & the distressed timber walls are being offered into place. Weathered galvanised steel has been secured for the roof & chimney and a brick layer has offered his services to build the fire place. The hut is being constructed offsite in sale and will be transported and reassembled at Mt Hotham upon completion.

Internal furnishings, where practical, are to be made from recycled timber. Hut foundations are to be surveyed & prepared during the first week in January and the project will hopefully be complete by around March 2007. An official opening will take place at the site.

The hut has been made to look the same as the original prop, but has been made to last for 100 years.

It will become part of the Three Huts Walk and will be a safe and picturesque visitor attraction in both winter and summer.
