Good Morning,
The resort continues to be under no immediate threat however roads to the Mt Hotham Resort remain closed.
The cool change overnight delivered 6.4mm of precipitation. Current wind strength is 22 kmh from the ESE. There is low visibility due to a combination of fog and smoke.
Fire Status;
Overnight, the rains and wind direction change have, for the moment, halted the progress of the Tawonga Fire; however unfortunately the rain did prevent any preventative back burning by the CFA overnight.
There are two fires approaching Mt Hotham, however quite slowly;
The first is located in the National Park out on the Razorback approximately 6km NNW of the resort, the second located in the vicinity of ‘The Twins’ behind MT St Bernard approximately 9kms NE of the resort. Both are being closely monitored by the CFA.
Road Status;
The Great Alpine Road from Harrietville to the resort remains closed to all traffic.
The Great Alpine Road from Omeo to the resort is also closed. (emergency services and local residents exempted)).
