The Big D is the home of the Kids Snowzone and the place where kids have fun!
IMPORTANT NOTE: You can NOT pre-book places in either Mighty Mites or Kids Klub programs. There is a DAILY REGISTRATION for both programs which closes at 9.30am. If you are here during the registration times we can GUARANTEE you a spot in a class. If you are LATE we do try our best to accommodate your child but we CANNOT GUARANTEE that there will be room in the program. Please be aware also that purchasing your lesson tickets does not reserve you a place in our programs.
HELMETS: Helmets are compulsory for all students in snowsports lessons. Hotham Sports will provide this FREE as part of the rental package. Please pick up your child's helmet before arriving at the Kids Snowzone.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Mighty Mites (3 - 5 yrs). We do recommend that for Mighty Mites programs you complete the registration form prior to your arrival.

Kids Klub (6 - 14 yrs). Registration happens between 9.15 - 9.30am outside the Big D. You will be given a plastic tag when purchasing your Kids Klub program passes from any ticket outlet on the mountain. Please ensure this tag is securely fitted to each child's clothing when dropping your child off for their lessons.
Please Note: There is NO downloadable registration form for the Kids Klub program. The plastic Registration Tag (mentioned above) acts as the registration form.
Helmets
The Australian Ski Areas Association recommends the wearing of helmets for skiing and riding, and encourages you to educate yourself on the benefits and limitations of helmet usage.
All guest participants in what is generally known as Kids and Children’s Snowsports School Programs are required to wear an accredited ski or snowboard helmet, and there is no opt out facility or ability by a parent or guardian.
Hotham Sports will provide helmets to all children participating in a snowsports lesson FREE as part of the rental package.

The Kids Snowzone features a huge variety of lessons programs, activities, theme days, fun games and of course lots of snowplay! Children from as young as 3 years old can participate in group snowsports lessons.
Whether your child is a seasoned expert or is seeing snow for the very first time, we have a variety of specially tailored lessons and programs to get them out on the slopes in no time. The Snowzone is staffed by a range of qualified instructors that are dedicated to ensuring your kids have a great time. Group participation is also encouraged, meaning that the Snowzone is the perfect place to make new friends!
The Hotham Kids Snowzone is located next to the Big D chairlift. All children 14 and under begin their lessons there.
Every child enrolled in a Kids Snowzone program is offered FREE use of a helmet for the duration of their lesson.
Hotham's Kids Snowzone is registered with the Department of Human Services.

You can hire your child's equipment from Hotham Sports - availiable from Hotham Central, Jack Frost, DP Pinnacle and Harrietville.
Benefit from a maximum of only 4 kids per class as they take on the Premium Zone! Premium Zone lessons are for a full day lesson including lunch at Swindlers on-mountain at Hotham. Available to kids aged 7-14 years (skiing only).
Classes are based on green, blue and black zones with a minimum of two kids neede for a class and of course, a maximum of 4 kids working together with their snowsports instructor for the day.

Green Zone - Can ski controlled snowplough turns on the Big D and Summit.

Mighty Mites learn skiing in half or full day sessions. It's a great way to introduce your children to snow, start them skiing or develop their existing skills. The program gives younger children a positive and complete skiing experience through building self-confidence, offering encouragement and having fun.
Upon arrival to the Snowzone, Mighty Mites need to fill out a registration form. To save time download the form, fill it out in advance and bring it with you to the resort.

Tips for Mighty Mites
Both morning and full day programs are offered for kids aged 6 - 14 years of age.
It's the perfect opportunity to make new friends while gaining the maximum benefit from skiing and boarding with our qualified children's instructors.
Please Note: Due to children's physical development we do not offer group snowboarding lessons to children aged 5 years or below. We do offer a range of Private Lessons for these children to cater for their unique needs when learning to snowboard.

Tips for Kids Klub
Please Note: Older participants may leave the area on their own only if permission is indicated on their registration tag.
At the end of the day any child who has not been picked up by 3:30pm will be taken inside the Kids Snowzone, where it is warmer, to wait for parents.
If your little ones are a little too young for Mighty Mites but you want to get them onto the slopes for a test run, Hotham Day Care offers an Introduction to Ski Program* from $192 per child for one day.
