Mount Hotham Free Ski
Mount Hotham Free Ski is striving to improve and create new technical support facilities on the mountain for all skiers to enjoy. Director Martin Rowley has lived in the Australian mountains for most of his life and his commitment to sharing his wealth of knowledge and sporting skiing ability has taken the form of MHFS. Martin has come from a ski racing background and moved into a variety of Free Style disciplines as a young adult, competing in over a thousand events. As a previous national winner and 10 year World Cup Free Style competitor Martin has a real passion for skiing which flows through MHFS. Whether it's to excel or exceed your individual skiing goals and expectations, or aim for a National team representation and have a full time sporting career, we are here to guide you safely.
The primary goals of the MHFS Freestyle Programs are to cultivate a life long passion for the sport of skiing: cultivate the technical and tactical skill to achieve the goals of the individual skier; to cultivate life styles ( for confidence, organisation, timeliness, self control, respect of rules and others, discipline in action etc); manage an individual for success in the sport of skiing over the long haul from “start to finish” by providing a pipeline that promotes sustainability, growth and ongoing excitement for the sport of skiing.
MHFS offers a wide range of programs which will emphasise skill development through free skiing in a variety of winter environments; trees, powder, big mountain, bumps, aerials, and terrain parks. This exposure and mileage becomes the foundation for all future development and success in winter sports. The different age groups offer a fun-learning environment in a group setting focusing on fundamental athletic skills, core strengthening, coordination and stamina.
MHFS offers many different programs including the All Winter Program (40 days on snow), Casual Program (120 hours on snow), VIC School Holidays Program (30 hours on Snow), 5 week Snow Riders Program (15 or 50 hours on snow), 5 Week Let It Rip Program (15 or 50 hours on snow) and One Day POP Up Clinics (6 hours on snow). Ages range from 6-14 years and the importance of having fun is a must! We place a high emphasis on being a goal orientated athlete and striving for excellence and mastering the Free Ski disciplines helping develop confidence, advanced tactical and technical ability, strengthening physiological, and a competitive spirit whilst nurturing these life skills. Offering highly trained Free Ski coaches, with POP UP guest coaching and mentoring, MHFS is the place to be this season!
