Take to the ultimate off road experience

Being the highest alpine resort in Victoria, Hotham is blessed to have a challenging range of 4WD tracks right on our door step. The tracks wind their way through rolling high plains, river crossings and razorbacks. You have never been 4WDing until you have experienced Hotham.

Calling all four wheel drivers! Don't miss Mt Hotham’s premier 4WD event, Beyond Hotham, which is set to host convoys of 4WD enthusiasts from the 13th of March to the 23rd of March, 2014.

Held over ten days, the event encompasses a multitude of day trips, overnight trips, workshops, seminars, social events; that offer an exceptional four wheel driving experience suitable for any level of ability.

Come along and join us and experience a unique mountain adventure - driving over a razor back ridge at high altitude, navigating through river crossings where gold may lie beneath you, walking in the footsteps of brave pioneers, and enjoy local tales over a hot or cold beverage.

Our trip leaders, most whom have over 35 years of 4WDing behind them, put their own unique theme and flavor to the program. Trip highlights this year include 5 x 4day/3night trips that take you to places that most people only look at on a map – these trips lead you through this breathtaking and historically rich area that is our backyard. They include the Golden Footsteps Discovery Tour, High Country Huts Tour, A Few Days Out and The Other Side Of Hotham.

There are plenty of workshops and activities on where you where you can learn new four wheel driving skills or perhaps brush up on your techniques. Workshop topics include Winching & Safe Vehicle Recovery, Getting To Know Your Vehicle, Introduction to Safe Chainsaw Use and Maintenance, Navigation & Communications, and Tyre Talk.

A host of social events will be on offer to enable everyone to relax after a big day of driving, including Happy Hours & get together dinners. Special guest presenters will be in attendence including local historian Ian Stapleton.

The accommodation options are excellent at Mt Hotham and ski club lodges are ideal for 4WD clubs interested in booking a venue for their members. With their commercial sized kitchens and cosy lounges, they are the perfect place to relax with fellow club members at the end of a fantastic day’s driving.

Trips have a capacity of 10 vehicles, so get your registration form in early to avoid disappointment. All registrations must be received by March 1, 2014. Don’t forget that you also go into the draw to win a set of four Mickey Thompson tyres to the value of $1200, donated by Smiths Tyre and Battery Service, Bright – if your completed registration form is received by the 31st of January 2014.
