Core Position Statement

Support the positive public image of Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board (MHARMB) through the communication of effective, targeted and credible information to Stakeholders and wider target audiences.                                                        

Purpose of the Position

  • To ensure media and stakeholders are provided with coherent and professional communications;
  • To creatively develop story lines, translate complex policies into easily understood messages that reach a wide and varied audience;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets to communicate our message and target external audiences in a positive manner;
  • Act as the first point of contact in response to external media and stakeholder enquiries;
  • Write, compile and edit content and images as needed for the organisation's paper and online publications, including but not limited to web content, e-newsletters, brochures, factsheets, reports and guides;
  • Write, compile and edit CEO communications for external and internal distribution including speech writing, press releases, ministerial replies, grant applications, and general correspondence.

 

Skills Required - Mandatory

  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills with the ability to draft speeches, Ministerial and corporate replies, media releases, presentations and publications, adapting messages to suit different audiences and communications channels;
  • Proven ability to write for various audiences including media, general public, policy experts, blogs and within brand guidelines;
  • Experience in managing publications for print and online applications from content to production and distribution;
  • Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities to deliver communications to promote an organisation's objectives and achievements through a broad range of channels;
  • Superior oral communication skills including mediation, negotiation, facilitation;
  • High level of interpersonal skills, to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicate in a clear and concise manner; and
  • Good time management skills including the ability to work autonomously and organise own workload to meet tight deadlines, specifically responses to media enquiries and requests.

Skills Required - Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Hotham area.
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism or a related degree.
  • Relevant experience within/or with State government.
  • Experience in providing advice on public relations strategies and public awareness campaigns.
  • Competency in Office software suite.
