Call 000 now for all fire emergency calls

Triple Zero (000) is now the only number to call for the fire brigade during an emergency.

Over the next few months local fire brigade numbers will be phased out and will eventually stop working.  Residents in the Alpine Shire (including Mt.Hotham and Dinner Plain resorts )can begin using triple zero immediately.

The change is due to CFA updating its call taking system across Victoria.

Residents are urged to update their emergency phone numbers to ensure that the triple zero number is close to their home phone.

“Many residents are used to dialling their local fire brigade number directly, but soon this won’t be possible,” said Paul Horton, CFA Operations Officer Mt.Hotham and Dinner Plain, “now residents simply need to remember triple zero for the fire brigade, police or ambulance.”

Emergency calls to triple zero are free and will be answered anytime of the day or night.  Triple zero is for emergency calls only.
