Opening Weekend

Opening Weekend is all about catching up with friends, welcoming the start of winter, and celebrating with good food, wine and music. Hotham and Dinner Plain will come to life with restaurants open, fireworks and even an art gallery…

At Hotham

Art gallery featuring works by Nick Morris in @hotham_central on Saturday and Sunday. Come and take a look at beautiful acrylics, collage and screenprints, using images from post-war popular culture, Australiana and Morris’ own photographs.

Chill out with friends and get into the swing of the season with live music from Ricki Wood at Chill Bar from 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Hotham Central Supermarket will also be open.

Avalanche @ Arlberg will be open from Thursday 5 June from 5pm till late.

The General Store will be kicking the start of season 2014 off in style with lots of live music and partying…

At Dinner Plain

Dinner Plain Alpine Village continues to establish itself as the gourmet focus of the Victorian Alps with the Opening Weekend showcasing our local cooking talent and the village's culinary connections.

This year, the talents of James Crute, Michael Demagistris, Sunny Gilbert, Simon and Thani come to Dinner Plain to mix it up with the local chefs.

All venues are open all weekend. Tsubo, Mountain Kitchen, Alphutte, Stones Throw @ Hotel High Plains, Graze @ Rundells Alpine Lodge, Sola Copa and the Dinner Plain Hotel all provide exceptional menus featuring local produce, an array of local wines and beers and great atmospheres.

Sola Copa will be open from 6.30pm on Saturday 7 June with 8 courses of Mediterranean meets Latin American cuisine. Dishes brought to you by Sunny Gilbert, head chef of ‘Movida Next Door’ and Argentinean chef Pablo De Pasquale, executive chef at Sola Copa. Bookings essential on 03 5159 6799 or 0403 207 824.

Stones Throw @ Hotel High Plains will be open from 6.30pm on Saturday 7 June, welcoming Master Chef contestant Michael Demagistris and apprentice Floyd to the kitchen team, led by new Head Chef Ben Bound (formerly of Vue De Monde). $120 per person for a 6 course dinner with a couple of surprises… Bookings essential on 03 5159 6324. Wood fire pizzas will be available at the bar for a more casual option.

Graze @ Peppers Rundells Alpine Lodge welcomes Chef Leigh Irish from 6pm on Sunday 8 June. $135 per person for a beautiful European menu. Bookings essential on 03 5159 6422.

Alphutte will be open from 1.30pm on Sunday 8 June, showcasing a full traditional Thai banquet lunch, with matching wines plus a bubbles or beer on arrival at $95 per person, brought to you by Simon and Thani from Thai Classic. Bookings essential on 03 5159 6556.

MP Bill Sykes will officially open the snow season at the Dinner Plain hut at 1pm on Sunday 8 June. Enjoy a glass of wine or two and some finger food to celebrate. $5 per person with proceeds going to the Dinner Plain Residents and Business Operators Society.

Finally, FIREWORKS will bring in the season with a BANG from 6pm on Sunday 8 June at the roundabout.
