Great Alpine Road closed due to multiple landslips until 4pm today

VicRoads advises drivers that the Great Alpine Road won’t reopen at 12.30pm between Harrietville and Dinner High Plains Road due to multiple landslips due to heavy rains.

The road will reopen by 4pm today, Thursday 28 March.

Heavy rains from Wednesday evening 27 March have led to landslips at various locations between Harrietville and the Dargo High Plains Road intersection.

Multiple crews are currently clearing the slip sites and assessing the potential damage. Therefore the road will remain closed until 4pm to allow crews to clear the damage and make the road accessible and safe.

Drivers planning to travel to Victoria’s alpine region should check local road conditions immediately prior to their departure for current information and tune in to local radio stations for updates.

The VicRoads ‘Road Closures and Traffic Alerts’ page is updated 24/7 and will be used to provide updates on changed road and traffic conditions.
